A long standing requirement in the primary section has been the need for Teacher Assistants to aid Primary School teachers to provide a more holistic learning experience for new Royalists entering the school. The RCU Skills Centre has taken the initiative together with the Old Boy parents of the present Grade 1 students, to fund and carry out the Grade 1 Teacher Assistant Programme to provide this necessary service.

The initiative has received endorsement from the Ministry of Education. Pictured is Old Boy and Chairman of the committee Mr. Boshan Dayaratne addressing the gathering.
